Go through the Magic Door hidden in CAMP Toy Stores and you’ll often find a magical world waiting for you! At CAMP NYC, we put together Disney’s ENCANTO, which we ultimately won a THEA Award for. A small but essential team put this whole experience together to create a real Casita for families to enjoy. Let’s look at the experience together!

You enter CAMP, a seemingly normal toy store. But you couldn’t be more mistaken; hidden behind a shelf of unassuming jars is a secret, magical world waiting for you to explore it! Welcome to CASITA from Disney’s ENCANTO!

Wow, it’s just like in the movie! What else is in store?

Wow, it feels like we’re in a real outdoor market!

Let’s look at the rest of Casita! So many moments of play and immersion!

Making Some Magic
So how could we make it feel like a real market once you came through the magic door?
I looked at real markets to study hand-written signs (both photos below were taken by me).

We decided wanted to make two core types of signs: the signs with the official CAMPxEncanto
branding for more practical signage and hand-lettered market signage. So these are how the market signs turned out!

The 360 Experience
You need lot of printed things to help guide and signal audiences, whether it’s to play a fun game of riddles, to show pricing, for packaging in-store items—you name it! Below you’ll find a small sample of what I touched creatively, whether full on asset designs or preparing for print. The pieces below are game cards, a step-and-repeat, jewelry packaging, and in-store signage, though there were many more assets that landed on my desk which were needed to support a show of this size!

Con prisa, Let’s Get The Word Out!
When you’re a small team, you tackle so many touch points of an experience.
A major one is marketing! We had to get the word out on multiple platforms. Here’s a sample of some of my work: e-mails, website landing pages, store landing pages; all of it needs to be wrapped in branding to signal it’s associated with the show.
