I Cooked Like Julia Child For A Week was a LittleThings proposal for a first-person article following one of our writers as she spent the week cooking Julia Child Recipes. This was a sponsored article for eBay.
I proposed the visual direction for a longer-form, immersive article with high-quality imagery and design. My proposal was to dress the author up like a slightly more nostalgic, classic looking Julia Child and mix this imagery with imagery of her cooking the food. The processing of the imagery and the design direction was based off of Julia's Book, The Art of French Cooking and included mid-century illustrations and a classic French pallet.
You're seeing all of the embedded images created for the article as well as the visual mood board I used for my proposal.

Becoming Julia
I had Morgan posing in iconic Julia Child positions to pepper throughout the article as a fun, exaggerated nod to Julia’s endearing personality, which was just as famous as her cooking.

Illustration Style
I went with a midcentury modern feel to the illustrations to kind of reflect the nostalgia and slight hyperbole we were going for.

At Home Cooking Photos
These photos had a different mood; they meant to throw nods at Julia’s playful cooking style as well as her clothing style, but bring these references into the modern world and show more of Morgan’s personality as well.
We wanted the look here as much more soft, candid, bright— more lifestyle than studio/staged.
